Samuel Headrick
The New Kid addresses the epidemic issue of bullying in schools. My sincere hope is that this ballet, in four scenes, can make at least some small contribution to the increased understanding of both the harm and the possible hope surrounding this very real problem.
This work was commissioned by Boston Music Viva with the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. It was premiered by Boston Music Viva under the direction of Richard Pittman, and the Northeast Youth Ballet under the direction of Denise Cecere, choreographer and Artistic Director.
